| Construction services provider expanding in booming Middle East markets |
 |
| In January 2011 Streif Baulogistik set up a new company in the Middle East, known as Streif Baulogistik Qatar W.L.L. Germany’s leading construction logistics provider is thus expanding its international activities. Based in Doha, the company will offer its local clients complete solutions for formwork systems and rotating cranes, as well as logistical engineering services for construction sites.“With this move we are opening up one of the most dynamic markets for construction-related services in the world,” says Marc Koch, COO, who is running the new company together with Heiner Hoffmann. In 2008 and 2009 Streif Baulogistik had already delivered formwork material for a major project in Doha from Vettelschoss. With a contract volume of EUR 9 million, this was one of the company’s biggest ever single contracts and helped it to break into this market. “Based on the experience we gained then, we adjusted our services to local needs and, working with strong partners, have devised a business model that is specially designed for this region,” explains Heiner Hoffmann who, apart from his involvement in Qatar, also remains responsible for Systems in Vettelschoss.Together with parent company HOCHTIEF, which is engaged in various largescale projects in Qatar, Streif Baulogistik is expanding its involvement in the emirate further and is aiming to raise its profile further in the Middle East.“In order to meet the growing demand, we are currently putting a team together and we are looking for very well trained and technically experienced specialists with whom we can solve exciting challenges in this growth market,” Heiner Hoffmann says.At present the Essen-based company is working on construction logistics services for major urban developments in Qatar. Before the stadiums for the soccer World Cup 2022 are constructed, Streif Baulogistik will also be coordinating its service portfolio in line with the planned infrastructural projects. “Apart from handling major projects, we want to open ourselves up to local businesses so that, together with these companies, we can continue to develop our experience and specialist expertise,” Marc Koch explains. |
