Major contract at Frankfurt Airport
Since November 2008, Streif Baulogistik has been responsible for handling the
general construction site equipment and logistics for the extension work on
Terminal 1 of Frankfurt Airport. By 2012, the terminal will have a new pier,
A-West, which, once completed, will be able to handle even big aircraft like the
jumbo jet A380. The contract has a total value of over twelve million euros over
a term of 45 months. Commissioned by Fraport AG, Streif Baulogistik is
responsible for the entire infrastructure of the construction site and
coordinates the whole supply chain.
The services commissioned include site protection and control of the three access points. Furthermore, Streif Baulogistik will provide the site with power and water and handle site cleaning and waste management. The construction logistics experts will also supply and manage some 300 containers for offices and site restroom facilities for the various parties involved in the construction.
The leasing and logistics services are complemented by construction aspects:
Streif Baulogistik is setting up roads and junctions, and provide technical
infrastructure such as telephone, crossing and surveillance systems. The start
of structural work in March 2009 also initiated the scheduling of deliveries and
the coordination of transports.
