Project: Barwa Commercial Avenue, Qatar

Streif Baulogistik has sold its proprietary formwork systems StreifLight and StreifTelos to the "Barwa Commercial Avenue" project in Qatar. Just outside the capital of Doha, Commercial Avenue will feature the ultimate in shopping malls.

The company has provided a total of 5,000 square meters of proprietary wall and column shuttering systems, including its lightweight formwork StreifLight (steel version) and the telescopic column shuttering StreifTelos. This was added by 20,000 square meters of beam and ceiling shuttering from its partner companies Faresin and Pafili. The approx. 2,000 tons of material were sent on their way in one hundred 40-foot maritime containers. The first container headed off on September 29, 2008, the last delivery will be made by mid-May 2009.
Streif Baulogistik will also handle key services for the client on site, including the provision of topping-out foremen. The company convinced with its technical consulting expertise even in the negotiation phase: the engineers had developed a shuttle carriage for ceiling joist tables, which meant that entire components could be moved and crucial time saved. The engineers further devised a pre-assembled stair formwork system which allows stairs and landings to be pre-assemble in one piece on site. These then merely need to be put in place by crane. A further development involved a new screw jack U-head for the Pafili load towers used in the project. These are used to fix the capping pieces to the tower without accessories, so that the wooden beams cannot shift. All these innovations reduce the setup and dismantling work and provide the client with key time and cost advantages.
